Overview:

Tamang is one of the indigenous ethnic groups of Nepal with rich religious life and cultural heritages. Tamang Heritage trail trekking offers the close-up experience of Himalayan trails along with unique integrity of local inhabitants. This trip goes though traditions Tamang communities of Langtang region where culture, life, art and artifacts remained untouched by modernity and any other kind of external influences.

This 16 days appreciative rural trip starts by scenic driving trip to Syabrubensi and extends through amazing mountain sceneries and forests of Langtang National Park. The route brings us to pass by Gatland village, Tatopani (hot spring), Thuman, Briddim and the valley villages of Langtang and Kyanjin Gompa (3798m). This trek also offers the huge significances of Tibetan Buddhism and unique practices. Now, this is one of frequently chosen trekking destination in Nepal, so accommodation and good facilities are also well arranged by locals.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1338m)

With the display board for Nepal All Trekking, one of our representatives welcomes you at arrival gate of Tribhuvan Airport, Kathmandu. Then you will be transfer to chosen hotel at the downtown of Kathmandu city. Check in to the hotel and stay overnight.

Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing and trek orientation

On this day we are going to visit to several of UNESCO heritage sites of Kathmandu city. Our professional city guide will escort you to Swyambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple and Boudhnath stupa. After the tour, we’ll arrange pre-trip discussion class to let your know about every possible incidences. Do some trek preparations like packing etc. and stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi (1,440m)

Today, we’ll shift to mountain foothill, Syabrubensi.  Along north-western hills from Kathmandu city, we’ll drive through riversides, windy roads, terraced fields, rustic villages and small towns. We’ll stay overnight in a local guesthouse of Syabribensi. (7-8 hours drive)

Day 04: Trek to Gatlang (2238m)

Start trekking. In the beginning walk ascend though forest and reach to a viewpoint of Ganesh Himal, Gosainkunda range and Langtang Lirung. Further trail goes gradually through Buddhist chortens, Mani walls, terraced fields and some scattered Tamang villages. We’ll reach to beautiful Tamang village of Gatlang for overnight stay. (5 hours trek)

Day 05: Trek to Tatopani, (2607m)

After breakfast, descend down to Chilime village, at the side of Chilime Hydropower dam. After Chilime, trail goes up by passing a suspension bridge and offering outstanding view of Langtang and Ganesh Himal. Tatopani is our destination today where we can experience natural hot spring. Overnight Tatopani. (6-7 hours trek)

Day 06: Trek to Thuman, (2338m)

Today will be a pretty long walking day. We’ll have to trek by a pass called Nagthali (3165m). It’s an open grassland with fine viewing points of most central Nepal’s Himalayas. Leaving Nagthali, we’ll descend down to Thuman village. It is a big Tamang village with big influence of Tibetan cultural lifestyle. Stay overnight in Thuman. (7 hours trek)

Day 07: Trek to Briddim, (2229m)

Today, our destination will be another large Tamang community of Briddim. An easy trail leads us through meadows and rhododendron forests on peaceful wildlife habitat. Briddim has beautifully arranged houses in ‘Z’ shape. Overnight in local lodge of Briddim. (5-6 hours trek)

Day 08: Trek to Lama Hotel (2500m)

This day joins us to Langtang valley trekking route. Along gradual up-down trail through rhododendron and bamboo forest, this is another interesting day for wild habitat lovers. Enjoy the walk on eco-friendly trace and reach to Lama hotel for overnight stay. (5-6 hours trek)

Day 09: Trek to Langtang, (3430m)

At the beginning, the trail goes steep uphill till to lunch place at the hilltop. After about half an hour walk from lunch point, we’ll leave tree line behind us. Further we will walk by Yak pastures, Mani walls, Gompas and some small villages. Admire sparking view of Langtang Lirung (7227m) and reach to naturally decorated village of Langtang for overnight stay. (5-6 hours trek)

Day 10: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m), at evening explore the village

Today, we’ll do easy start as we have to make only short trek of 3-4 hours to Kyanjin Gompa. The trail leads us by big gorge encircle by high hill and mountains from all directions. En-route, we’ll see large yak pastures, longest Mani wall of Nepal and some prayer wheels. Kyanjin is a big charming village with lots of teahouses, Cheese factory and prestigious gompas. Explore around the village and stay overnight. (3-4 hours trek)

Day 11: Trek back to Langtang (3430m)

If you have interest, go for hike either to Tserko-Ri (4984m) or Kyanjin-Ri (4773m) in early morning (optional). These peaks offer the magnificent view of entire Langtang range along with splendid sunrise view. After coming back to Kyanjin, retrace back to Langtang valley and stay overnight. (4-5 hours trek)

Day 12: Trek to Bamboo Lodge (1960m)

Today also we have to walk on downhill trail all the way down to Bamboo. After a short walk from Lagntang, we’ll re-meet timberline. Eventually the forests of Rhododendron, bamboo and oat appear till to our destination point Bamboo. (4-5 hours trek)

Day 13: Trek to Syabrubensi(1440m)

This is last day of trekking. Walk through dense forest along the side of Langtnag Khola River. Sometime we can see some species of wild lives as well like clouded deer, Red panda and etc. Stay overnight in Syabrubensi. (4-5 hours trek)

Day 14: Drive back to Kathmandu (1338m)

Today by leaving rural mountain region, we’ll be back to modernity of Kathmandu city. After breakfast, drive back to Kathmandu though thrilling roads on scenic foothill and riverbeds. Arriving Kathmandu, check in to a chosen hotel and overnight stay. (7-8 hours drive)  

Day 15: Free day in Kathmandu

We plan a day extra in Kathmandu to allow you know more about the city or for rest after adventure trek. So, explore around the city, go for souvenir shopping to your friends and family and enjoy uniqueness of Nepal’s city life. Stay overnight in Kathmandu hotel.

Day 16: Transfer to airport for final departure

Today we are saying good bye. Thank you very much for visiting Nepal. At about 3 hours before your scheduled departure flight, transfer to airport and fly away. Nepal All Trekking would always love to welcome you here again and again.
