Overview:

Helambu Trek is a short popular trekking in Langtang region of Nepal, close to Kathmandu valley. This area is well known for spectacular view of Himalayas including Langtnag Lirung (7227m), Dorje Lakpa (6970m), Gang Chenpo and etc. Helambu region is mostly settled by Tamang and Tibetan origin people who practices similar culture, tradition, religion and languages.

This is a well planned trekking package including magnificent Langtang valley, sacred Gosainkunda region and cultural villages of Helambu. Langtang valley is located at the center of 360 degree all around snowy mountains. Gosainkunda is a mystical holy land with more than a dozen of sacred ponds. So, one who wants to face alpine environment along with cultural integrity of this diversified country, this trek would be a better one. Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1338m)

Welcome in Himalayan paradise: Nepal. With the display board for Nepal All Trekking, one of our representatives welcomes you at arrival gate of international airport, Kathmandu. After a brief talk, transfer to a selected hotel at the downtown of city and overnight stay.

Day 02: Sightseeing Kathmandu Valley and pre-trekking briefing

After morning breakfast, a professional city guide will escort us to some of historic monuments of city. UNESCO listed sites Swyambhunath, Kathamndu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath and Boudha are our major destinations today. After sightseeing tour, there will be a trekking description class at Nepal All Trekking office or in Hotel. Do trek preparation and stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive to Sybrubensi (1462m)

Today leaving the hustle and bustle of city life, we’ll head to mountain region. After mooring breakfast drive to Syabrubensi along north-western hills of Kathmandu. On the way we’ll pass by exclusive villages, rivers, terraced fields and small towns. Stay overnight in a local teahouse of Syabrubensi. (7 hours drive)

Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel (2380m)

This is our first day of trekking. We follow Langtang Kola River along dense fir and oak forests. The trail is gradual up and down passes by several hills and tea houses. Lama hotel will be the overnight stay destination today. (5-6 hours trek)

Day 05: Trek to Langtang Village (3430m)

In first part of trek, walk steady uphill through the dense forest and rocky path. Today we’ll leave tree line behind us and move forward to see charming view of Langtang Lirung (7227m), pasture lands and hair rising landscapes. Pass by Mani walls, prayer wheels, gompas and reach to systematic village of Langtang for overnight stay. (5 hours trek)

Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3798m)

Today we’ll make a short journey to Kyanjin Gompa. Do easy start and walk through Yak pastures, bushes encircle by mountains. We’ll see the longest Mani wall in the country just before reaching to the village of Kyanjin Gompa. It is one the brilliantly located villages, right at the foot of mountains. Stay overnight in a local guesthouse. (3-4 hours trek)

Day 07: Trek to Lama Hotel (2380meters)

After a pleasing night in Kyanjin Gompa, today we retrace down to Lama Hotel. Since the trail is mostly downhill, it will be an easy descending. Overnihgt Lama Hotel. (5 hours trek)

Day 08: Trek to Thulo Syabru (2250meters)

Today we’ll enter to Gosainkunda side. In the beginning trail is downhill to river and then start growing towards towards the hilltop village of Bamboo and then eventually to Thulo Syabru. The most of path today is covered by bamboo and fir forests. (5-6 hours trek)

Day 09: Trek to Shin Gompa (3250m)

In the beginning walk, climb steep to Dimsa village and further it goes gradually. Pass by cool forests of rhododendron, fir and hemlock. Enjoy the fine view of Langtang and Ganesh mountains and walk to Shin Gompa. This village adds our spirit to enjoy in Himalayan heaven. Overnight Shin Gompa. (5 hours trek)

Day 10: Trek to Gosainkunda (4460m)

Today we are going to make to sacred destination: Gosainkunda. Walk through the dramatic uphills through forests and rocky paths. This area is the natural habitat of endangered Red panda and Cat bear. From somewhere en-route we can beautiful views of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal. Reaching Gosainkunda, visit around the sacred lakes. Stay overnight in a guesthouse. (5-6 hours trek) 

Day 11: Cross over the Laurebina pass (4610m) then trek to Ghopte (3430m)

This is a challenging day, when we have to walk through rocky uphill to Laurebina pass (4610m). Before the pass, we’ll have some more lovely lakes to see. The pass offers some of lovely view of Gosainkunda region including some of highest mountains. Trek downhill to Phedi and then to Ghopte for overnight stay. (6-7 hours trek)

Day 12: Trek to Melamchi Gaon (2560m) via Tharepati Pass (3490m)

Today, we’ll shift to Melamchi Gaon passing Tharepati pass (3490m). In the beginning trail goes down through forest and somewhere from riverside, rises up to cross the Tharepati pass. Further it goes up and down to meet Melamchi River and to Melamchi Gaon. (6 hours trek)

Day 13: Trek to Tarkeghyang (2743m)

By today, we move to Helambu region. Passing via various settlements, we’ll get to experience rural cultural life. Admire Tamang and Sherpa culture, tradition and ethnic livelihood. Stay overnight in Tarkeghyang village. (5-6 hours trek)

Day 14: Trek to Shermathang (2621m)

Today, trail leads us though the dense forest as we continue to Shermathang. Parachin and Gangyul are two Sherpa village on the way, giving the reflection of their unique ethnicity. Many people are Buddhist here whereas some are Bhutanese origin as well. Overnight Shermathang. (5-6 hours trek)

Day 15: Trek to Melamchi Pul Bazaar (846m)

As we’ve to trek short today, we’ll do easy start. Mostly the path is downhill through rocky trail and forests. Enjoy the pleasing walk though fresh natural environment and reach to a small town to Melamchi Pul Bazaar for overnight stay. (4-5 hours trek)

Day 16: Drive from Melamchi Pul Bazaar to Kathmandu

Today, we have nothing much to do. After breakfast, we’ll catch local bus and drive back to Kathmandu. On arrival, shift to hotel and take rest. At evening, visit around the city and enjoy unique aspect of Nepal’s city life. Stay overnight in Kathmandu. (3 hours drive)

Day 17: Free day in Kathmandu for Shopping

This is a free day in Kathmandu. Go on shop and explore Nepalese market. Thamel of Kathmandu is renowned as a good place for souvenir and gift shop, buy some for your friends and family. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 18: Fly to your next destination

Today is final day of Helambu Trekking. At about 3 hours before your flight time, transfer to airport and fly to your next destination. Nepal All Trekking always loves to be your travel partner again and again.
